Transport to Sagada and Banaue
Question
Agatha Chan : My family is planning a trip to Sagada and Banaue in mid October. We are from Malaysia. What are the best public transport to these places. Otherwise, is it possible to hire a car (4wheel) and a driver? What is the cost?
Answer
Ryan:Hi Agatha,
Let me greet you an advanced Selamat Datang! Regarding your inquiry – the public transport available are pretty much buses and four-wheel drives. You can get to Banaue by bus, but you must take a four-wheel drive from Banaue to Sagada – as the roads are bad. Alternatively, if you have the heart for an adventure, you can scramble for a seat on a jeepney plying Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada route- however, this is not advisable if you are bringing small kids with you, and space is always not guaranteed – it is fairly common to see people (including foreigners) ride on top of the jeepney!
Anyway, either you have a tour agency cover your trip with you or you can hire a four wheel drive which includes a driver and a tour guide with you. I inquired about doing a Cordillera Loop – Manila-Bulacan- Nueva Vizcaya-Banaue-Batad-Bangaan-Banaue-Bontoc-Sagada-Bontoc-La Trinidad-Baguio-Bulacan-Manila loop and it costs about PhP7,500.00 per person – 4-6 persons max.- excluding the driver and the guide for this (using a four-wheel drive). Please inquire at Camp-O. Look for Ohmar Picache- ohmarp@yahoo.com. Let him know that I referred you to him. the PhP 7,500 per person are old rates (but that’s what he gave me), I am not sure about the new ones.
Good luck about your trip to Banaue and Sagada- gorgeous, gorgeous places I tell you. :)
Cheers,
Ryan

Hello.. i would like to know if Ohmar Picache still accomodates tourist for the Cordillera Loop? My friends and i are interested to visit by next year. We are all from Davao City.
Or, can you suggest the best way to Sagada and Banaue from Santiago, Isabela? Is it ok to go there in January?
Thank you.
