Philippines Flood Donations Appeal

PKTan: Do you know you can help simply by talking about this matter? Blogging, Twittering, Facebook, emailing etc are great tools to spread the word; you can help us raise awareness of the severity of typhoon Ondoy.
More than a month’s worth of rain fell in just 12 hours yesterday as Tropical Storm Ketsana slammed ashore in the Philippines triggering the worst flooding in decades in the capital Manila and nearby provinces.
Philippines President Gloria Arroyo appealed for donations and called for calm.
“I am calling on our countrymen, especially residents of metro Manila and other provinces in the path of the typhoon, to please stay calm, follow the instructions of local officials and civil defence authorities,” she said in a TV message on Saturday.
The weather has cleared up, but many areas are still underwater, particularly in the east of the capital. Thirty-five provinces and cities, including the capital, have been placed under a state of emergency.

Ryan,
THANK YOU!!!!!!
I have been emailing everyone here in the US, if they can, to donate to PAWS— pets are family members and animals in general have been victims too. I am also writing SPCA and PETA. Maybe they can help also. Any amount will do. ANY.
We have been looking for ways here to contribute online. The seniors here (neighbors) are asking how does the donation help? They do not doubt the organization but it is just for the sake of knowing and comparing. They are active in SPCA and would like to compare as to how PAWS runs.
I am so thankful for the links sent.P lease do not hesitate to get in touch with me if there is anything else I can do for your cause.
Sincerely,
Charlie
Thanks Charlie,
I agree, that’s why me and especially Scott bring a bag of cat biscuits whenever we are on the road to feed the cats who probably are very hungry and cold. Animal welfare always take a backseat to everything here and that’s a little saddening. Although as much as we want to take in more stray cats, we cant do that since we do not have the time, money and living space for it. But yeah, any help to the animals here would be great.. You may also check out the link I had for CARA in these pages, I had been there and they take care of animals well. They needed more medical supplies I heard.
Cheers and thank you sir for kind heart!

Hi Guys,
I am an Australian and would like to donate to the flood victims. Where can I do this online??? Thanks
Hi Angel,
Right now, the best that you could do is contact your National Chapter of the Australian Red Cross.
You can also direct your donations to –
http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/Default.aspx?S=48&SS=972
Choose “Typhoon Ondoy”
Thanks! and Spread the word!
Thank you!!
Will do. I am sure many Australians would like to donate to help out the victims.
Thank you Angel, what happened here was truly heartbreaking. A lot of people are still needed to be rescued. Whilst the floods have subsided in most parts of Manila – the hardest hit areas have been the Province of Rizal with the towns of Marikina, Cainta and San Mateo still submerged as well as areas in the cities of Pasig and Quezon City. We are bracing for another storm headed this way in the next couple of days. God help us all.
My grandmother lives in Village East in Cainta. I tried calling the number to report about my grandmother in the Cainta hotline number. Unfortunately, the number given prompted a recording the the number dialed is incorrect or your number cannot be completed as dialed. Please post another number where I may inquire about my grandmother’s and other family members condition. Thank you so much
We will try. Phone lines are clogged because of too many calls. Will check for other numbers. Thanks.

I’m very sorry to hear about the news in the Philippines. I’m a Filipina living in the UK and it breaks my heart to see those people going through such difficult times. I will be collecting donations (probably mostly food and clothing ) from work collegues, friends and families. Is there an address that i can send them to or any organisations/charity who would be able to forward it to the victims asap.
International Donors (Red Cross) – Choose “Typhoon Ondoy” for the Activity/Project
http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/Default.aspx?S=48&SS=972
Or:
To people who want to help or report and people coordinating the rescue and relief operations, please go to http://sites.google.com/site/ondoymanila/home.
One-stop-shop for info on Ondoy. There you can check out visually through googlemap mashup where people need rescue or relief, where to drop off donations, where you can report help, news, etc., where people can go if they want to help, etc. The group is continuously trying (through software and through manual labor of typing) to get information from all these other sites and collate them there. Been helping them through feedback.
Hope this helps.
INTERNATIONAL DONORS MAY ALSO DONATE THROUGH THE AYALA FOUNDATION.
Friends overseas can now donate via MyAyala – http://www.myayala.com/ondoy

Are there any cargo facilities or organization in the U.S. (Specifically San Francisco, CA Bay Area)taking donated goods to be sent to the Philippines?
Philippine Airlines recently announced that they will be providing free airlift of donations intended for the Typhoon Ondoy victims. Please contact their San Francisco office as well as the American Red Cross at the numbers posted above. Thanks!
Really appreciate the information found here, will help alot of poor victims! More power to you!

Hi Mary,
It really depends on where you are staying. If you can contact the local Filipino community in your area or better yet the Red Cross in your country. Let me know where you are and I will let you know as soon as we get hold of the information.
Thank you very much for your kind heart. No help is too small. We need all the help we can get at this point.
Maraming Salamat!
Ryan
Thankyou for posting such alot of information!! I am in Australia and I have an aunty and two cousins who live in Venezuela City (but worked and went to school in 3 different places). We have not been able to contact them and neither have other relatives located in Cebu. We have no idea of their whereabouts.
I don’t know where to begin looking for them. I have found it SO hard from Australia to find any type of information/lead that could help us locate our family (so the info I have found on this page is REALLY helpful – thankyou!!).
At this point I have been trying to contact Red Cross, Bulacan and Venezuela City (as they were the only numbers i could find) – but cannot get through via phone or email (they bounce back).
Is there a missing person’s hotline I can call (for Venezuela City/Bulacan specifically?) to check if our family has been rescued/report them missing?
Also, with the numbers above, does anyone know how to dial from Australia? I have been dialling 0011 63…phone number, but it doesn’t work.
Thanks…
Try this number –

I live in Los Angeles, CA and I was wondering if there is anyway that we can ship donations (food, lots of clothing etc.) from here to the Philippines?
HI there,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Please contact the American Red Cross for this. Thank you! Still a lot of work to do… We are bracing for more rains in the coming days.
Ryan
Unfortunately, PAL is only accepting donated cargo to Manila from provincial airports. The country manager in San Francisco has not declared whether or not they will send donations for free. After searching online for two days, I still have not found a facility or Filipino organization accepting donations to ship.
I belong to the Filipino American Cultural Assoc of North San Diego County, here in CA. We are planning to send donation to the Philippines. I organized a flood relief last month when my hometown in Botolan Zambales was flooded and at least 10 barangays were devastated. That flood also left hundreds of people homeless that they need to be relocated. The river has now taken over the land when the dike breached.
My twin coordinated the distribution of the funds that I collected. Every penny that I was sent was accounted for and went directly to the victims. Names and pictures were taken to show the donors where their donations went. We avoided any integrity problem knowing my family did what I directed them to do.

Hi, I am wondering if there is a group of people gathered to do search and rescue of innocent animals too that have been affected by the storm?
Please let me know. I’d like to help whether manpower or money. And how will I do that.

All the info is at:

Thanks Alex! Helpful information. The Indonesian earthquakes were really devastating too as well as the tsunami in the American Samoa (not Sumatra).
