Had the chance to watch Tribu Paghidaet last Saturday at the Aliwan Festival. They were fun to watch (love the costumes and the complicated dance movements) though I wasnt able to watch Samba Regatta- because of the torrential downpour (of which we headed to the Ted's La Paz Batchoy after) that started during Panagbenga's performance. I lived in Iloilo for about 4.5 years. The food is definitely awesome especially at Tatoy's and Breakthrough. During my 4.5 years of my stay in Iloilo, I never watched a single performance of Dinagyang up close because the crowd can be really unruly unlike in Kalibo, that's why you have mobile jails installed all throughout the Downtown. Also, Dinagyang (and almost all of the festivals in the Philippines) is more of a spectator thing rather than a participative thing like the Kalibo Ati-atihan. I think Iloilo should do a major conservation effort on its Downtown- which has excellent heritage buildings.
